Accident Leads to Lewes Woman’s 6th DUI Offense

Lewes, De. (DELMARVA NEWS NOW) — Delaware State Police have arrested a Lewes woman on her sixth DUI offense.

Troopers say the incident occurred Thursday evening around 9:37 p.m. when they responded to an accident reported in the area of Conley Chapel Road south of Beaver Dam Road in Lewes. A dark gray GMC Sierra was involved in a single vehicle crash in which the vehicle traveled off the road and rolled over. Troopers made contact with the driver, 56-year-old Cheryl S. Surber, detected an odor of alcohol and conducted a DUI investigation.

Surber was charged with her 6th offense of driving under the influence and driving while suspended or revoked. She was arraigned and committed to the Delores Baylor Women’s Correctional Institution on $7,000 cash only bond.
