Artists Wanted: Salisbury Arts District to Paint Seven Utility Boxes Downtown

The Salisbury Arts and Entertainment District has announced a search for local artists who can assist in painting designs for seven electric utility boxes in Downtown Salisbury.

The project began in 2014 with help from the Delmarva Veteran Builders, Delmarva Power, the City of Salisbury and the Maryland State Arts Council.

“Painting power boxes has been a great project for the arts district” according to Executive Director Jamie Heater.

“The drab metal boxes hide in plain sight all around us – and offer a unique opportunity to introduce bright works of art for all to enjoy” Heater continued.

Artists can submit their design proposals until August 25th at salisburyartsdistrict.com

The winning designs will be selected on August 31 with the selected artists receiving $1,000 to $2,500 to complete the design.
