Governor Hogan: Maryland Has Acquired 250K Rapid COVID-19 Tests

Maryland Governor Larry Hogan held a press conference on Thursday morning, announcing the state has acquired 250,000 rapid-response coronavirus tests, which can provide results in 15 to 20 minutes.

The Governor said the tests were purchased as part of a 10-state compact with financial assistance from the Rockefeller Foundation and a grant from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control.

In all, the state compact acquired 3.5 million rapid results tests. The other states receiving the tests are Louisiana, Massachusetts, Michigan, North Carolina, Ohio, Virginia, Utah, Arkansas and Rhode Island.

At the press conference, Governor Hogan said “This is the latest, state of the art technology in rapid testing which will help to slow the spread of COVID-19 and help our states to speed up economic recovery.”
