The Rehoboth Beach Commissioners have unanimously voted to require face coverings in all public spaces.
The decision requires all persons over the age of 12 within the city of Rehoboth to wear a facial covering in all public spaces. This includes on public streets, sidewalks, parks, the Boardwalk, beach and all commercial establishments. Officials say it does not apply to those “actively bathing in ocean water.”
The requirement goes into effect at 5 p.m. on Wednesday.
On the decision, City Manager Sharon Lynn said “As we are seeing right now, without these precautions, the community spread is real.” She continued “The City has crowded streets and people who are not wearing masks and ignoring social distancing.”
