White Marlin Open Day 2: Michael Jordan Arrives, Weigh-ins Delayed for Weather

Ocean City, Md. (DELMARVA NEWS NOW) — It’s day two of a Delmarva summer tradition: the White Marlin Open in Ocean City.

Today, NBA legend and Charlotte Hornets owner Michael Jordan arrived on Delmarva, flying in on a private jet to Salisbury-Ocean City-Wicomico Regional Airport. His 80-foot yacht “Catch 23” has been docked in Ocean City since last week, and is entered in the White Marlin Open.

As of this posting, “Chasin Tail” captained by Nathan Walker tops the White Marlin leaderboard with a 74 lbs catch valued at 1.4 million dollars. Only one other catch has qualified in the White Marlin category, a 70 pounder caught by Brandon Dick-Giordano captaining Reel Chaos. There are no leaders in the Blue Marlin category at this time, 5 catches have qualified in the Tuna category, 3 have qualified in Wahoo, 4 in Dolphin and 1 shark.

Also as of this posting, the Tuesday afternoon weigh ins have been delayed due to inclement weather. We’ll keep you updated.
